I do miss California...

No, we are not moving

But, we are down visiting the old CA and having a great time!

Things I miss
  • The beach and the waves
  • Warm days and nights even when it's not really warm (I didn't wear a jacket or put one on Kasen to go for a walk this evening.  Also have been trying to overheat him by still putting undershirts on him, 'cause it's winter and he probably needs them, except it's warmer here)
  • Longer days (light-wise) even when it's not really light
  • Oak trees
  • Hills
  • Family--thanks for coming up T! and have enjoyed seeing some extended family and look forward to seeing more in a few days
  • More sunny days where you can sit out on the deck eat a meal, take a nap or read!
  • Fresh produce that's way tastier
Things I would miss in Seattle if we ever did move south...
  • San Juans
  • Regular mountain views
  • Mountains are a close drive away
  • Lakes everywhere
  • Long summer days
  • Friends and family
  • oh, and tasty coffee...though there is a surprising amount of that in the bay area too
And some pictures from today (we'll see how the phone pictures look on here)

Out on a walk before dark

Nearly 10 weeks old! He keeps getting longer!

Month #1

My full Christmas outfit with Christmas bear (this hat and outfit are way too small for him now)

Hanging out after a bath with mom. 2 weeks old.

 a little blurry...but I'm thinking hard!

 Meeting my friend Blake.

Look at these cute friends I already have--Oliver and Claire

 Asleep with aunt Bri

Camouflaged! Thanks Lauren for the cool truck outfit that makes me disappear
in my awesome jungle swing (thanks Whitney)

Curled up and asleep with mom. 1 month old!

I like it when dad gets to feed me.

Ready for a nap on the aforementioned beach/sock monkey quilt (they are on the back) and a big whale hat. Thanks again Patty! and thanks Mel for the hat! (it fits him much better now :-)

The rest of December

Going home from the hospital, only slightly jaundiced.

Chillin with dad, first full day at home! Newborn clothes are too big.
Merry Christmas Eve

My sock monkey (to go with quilt. thanks to Patty!)

Look at that great physiological flexion of full term (or post date) infants.  If you're not sure what this means, all you need to know is that yes, I'm still a nerd.

Getting warm and dry after my first bath.

Sock monkey and my favorite pajamas.
Happy New Years Eve all

More family!

At the hospital with Grandma Torseth
Minutes old!

Meeting the great Grandparents Torseth!
Just shy of 1 month old.

3 generations! well, missing the "dad" generation...so here is great Grandpa, Grandpa and 2 grandsons

Cousin Ezra and Aunt Kara.  Ezra was only sort of interested, though definitely more so when it was his mom holding the baby.

Thanks for babysitting Grandma and Grandpa!
5 weeks old.
I love where his hands are.  He does this a lot and I find it amusing.

Meeting family!

Well, turns out I didn't have as many pictures from the hospital of Erik and my families meeting Kasen, so here's some snipets of Kasen's extended family.  Tricia and Doreen, could I please get some more pictures from you? whether hospital or after...Thanks!

Meeting first grandson! (well, only had daughters too...pretty exciting!)

 Very intrigued by Brianne
3 days old

Relaxed? with Lori. So glad Lori and Rachel got to stop by and meet him (and see us!!!) Stopping by doesn't happen often when you live in Texas and California :-) Thanks!

Nearly a month old (3 1/2 weeks). All of these fabulous visitors were here the same weekend!!!
 Awake and happy with Rachel

 Brianne again?! :-)

Meeting An (if Kasen would have been on time, he would have gotten to meet An in December)

Hooray for Aunt Kate! (sorry Kate, our kids will know you're a fake aunt...but they'll still love you!)

And seeing our amazing (seriously) nurse Jen outside the hospital! Long story, we sort of grew up together.  She works at Swedish, and timing all worked out! It was so great to have her there for Kasen's labor and delivery (she stayed so she could see him). Thanks Jen!

6 1/2 weeks old. Grandma came back up for a visit

and even got to feed him!

Bella Baby Photography

So, at Swedish, they have folks that come to your room to take pictures of your baby for free! Of course, if you want, you can then spend money to secure these "free" pictures, which we did.  Fortunately for us, the sun was shining through our window that day and Kasen chose then to be awake and alert for his first photo shoot. Lucky us! Here he is at 1 1/2 days old.

Poor guy, he had bandaids on his feet for almost his first week of life from all the heel pokes they had to do.

Parents are looking forward to going home and showering

Hospital

Ok peeps, just what you've been wanting...pictures of Kasen! Here we go

Born 12/21 at 7:46 am, 7 pounds 4 ounces, 20 inches

 Just hangin' with my dad

Wow, look at me! No, this is not purposefully posed.
(This was before his hand slipped off and he whacked himself in the face--quite sad to see and hear--though he slept like this for quite sometime.)

Merry Christmas! Going home at 2 1/2 days old!
